Sasha Corbin Retires

Saracens Mavericks have confirmed that captain Sasha Corbin will be retiring at the end of the 2023 NSL season, ending a glittering 18-year career which has also seen her involved with Crazy Catch as an ambassador since 2015.

A netball icon and one of the greatest to ever don a Mavericks dress, Corbin will retire at the conclusion of the 2023 NSL season and Fast5 tournament having won 4 Super League titles and worn the Mav’s captaincy armband for a decade.

Since making her Mavericks debut in 2005, Corbin has gone on to have a distinguished career at club and international level, representing England 71 times including at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Reflecting on the decision to hang up the dress, Corbin was quick to stress how much she had enjoyed every moment of her career.

“I don’t want this to be a sad day, just a celebration of a career I could have only dreamed of. Sometimes I have to pinch myself, because I remember being the youngest in the Netball Super League in 2005. I’ve had the privilege of playing netball at the highest level internationally & domestically in the UK & New Zealand. Honestly the journey has been amazing!”

From Crazy Catch UK, Kate Costin marketing manager paid tribute to her impact off the court “From the very moment Sasha reached out, I knew she would be the perfect fit for the Crazy Catch brand. The positivity, skill, high energy, and flair with which she brought to the netball court, naturally translated into the exciting and innovative netball training drills we were looking to create. Filming days and school visits over past 8 years have always been lots of fun thanks to Sash’ bubbly personality and great vibe. Through her very successful coaching business “Solo Sessions” and the social media community she has organically grown, Sasha has inspired so many young netballers to follow her love for the sport and it’s a brilliant legacy to leave.

"It's sad that netball fans won’t be able to enjoy her performances on the court anymore but I am very sure there will be fantastic opportunities for her in the future especially with media work and coaching. We at Crazy Catch look forward to remaining involved with Sash and Solo Sessions for many years to come.”

Crazy Catch will be revisiting some of the best Crazy Catch x Solo Sessions videos and drills across our social media channels over the next few weeks as she signs off from her extraordinary netball career.
