Crazy Catch was invented in 1999 by New Zealand sheep farmer Andrew Sinclair who discovered that when you overlap two sheets of netting, you get an unpredictable rebound. This is our unique, patented net technology.
It is no surprise that Andrew developed a cricket training aid, with his father – Ian Sinclair – being a top cricketer during his childhood and being a part of the New Zealand Black Caps maiden test winning side against the West Indies in 1956.
The very first Crazy Catch nets were rigorously tested by Andrew and his wife Louise, plus their 3 sport mad sons and family dog ‘Reka’ in the backyard of their home.
There is no denying that New Zealanders are fanatical about sport; and even though Crazy Catch was first developed with Cricket in mind, it was not long until the rebound netting found its uses in other sports.
Andrew began developing further models of the Crazy Catch with differing net configurations when rugby (union and league) teams started showing interest; as well as netball clubs.
